In the future, I may have a 3D printer with a large build volume, big enough to print full-sized furniture*. Until then, I can find cool furniture things, like this "Science Fiction - Task Desk Miniature" by Stone Skull Studios and Mike Dunkley (Dnk85), and remix them into fun and functional things, like these display stands and small desk shelves, which will print on my current Prusa i3 MK3S+ (250x210x210mm). I made three variations of the original design. One with no back wall. One with two shelves, and one with two shelves and a back wall behind the two shelves. My remix also involved increasing the Fragment Number ($fn) for the curved areas, so the remixed things will enlarge better with less faceting. Everything printed well with the PrusaSlicer defaults (0.2mm layer height, 2 perimeters/walls, and 15% infill). Good bed adhesion is important, but no brim was needed on my printer. If you have a large-bed printer and print the full-size desk, please post your Make or Remix. I'd love to see it and get your feedback about designing and printing full-sized furniture. I think this design also could be remixed into a good-looking end table, nightstand, or coffee table. Please note: The original design was shared on the Thingiverse under the "Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial" license, and my remix is shared under the same "Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial" license. *BTW, "Oriental Table" by mkoutsar (2008) was the first full-sized furniture thing remixed from an extremely enlarged candleholder ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:261 ). I reviewed the very early Thingiverse, noting firsts, developments, trends (e.g., first thing, stl file, toy, supports, print-in-place, etc).
