UPDATE : I have included a Folder of 3MF Prepainted parts for Multicolor 3D printers. Use these if you have a compatible printer/slicer Otherwise use the original files and add a pause and do a manual filament swap at the correct layer where needed. Please leave a comment if these worked for you or if you had any issues with them. Can be printed on a Single extruder printer if you are able to pause at specific layers and swap filament to other colors. Back panel can be printed all white, but for a better look requires a slicer with multi color support for single extruder printers like OrcaSlicer. Paint all the inner faces and edges to be Light Gray. This can be done with a single extruder printer but you will need to manually swap filament a few times for the first few layers. Parts List: - 1x Steam machine - Steam - 4x M3 x L12mm Flat head Screws - Amazon - 4x M3 x D5 x L4 Heatset Inserts - Amazon - 10x M2.5 x L8mm Flat head Screws - Amazon - 10x M2.5 x D3.5 x L4 Heatset Inserts - Amazon - 12x 10mm x 2mm Disc Magnets - Amazon - 4x 1/4in x 1/16th in Disc Magnets - Amazon (I used different older ones I had so I can't verify the size of the amazon ones will be a perfect fit. Should be fine but magnets might be a a little loose fit and will just need more careful alignment when gluing. For reference mine measure exactly: 0.25in x 0.062in) - Gel Super Glue - Amazon Tools: - Soldering Iron just to place the heatset inserts - Tweezers would help for the small light channel pieces. - Phillips or Hex screwdrivers for the m2.5 and M3 Screws Filaments I Used: - Sunlu White PLA - Amazon - Sunlu Grey PLA - Amazon - Sunlu Silver PLA - Amazon - Sunlu Sky Blue PLA - Amazon - Overture 95A Black TPU - Amazon Assembly Notes: Each file name says how many you should print of each model and the colors to use. Use the soldering iron for the heatset inserts to carefully insert them. Check the videos to see where they should go. 4 of the M3 ones will go on the back of the two side panels, two on each panel. These line up and will be used for the Back Panel. The two holes on the top panel for heatset inserts can be ignored, as they are only needed on the side panels. Then the M2.5 heatset inserts will go on the diagonal corners with the alignment edges that stick out of the panels, and two on the bottom front IO panel piece so screws can go underneath where the feet are. Videos will show where they go. Use TPU Filament for feet and slide guards and the power button pad. These are used to protect the steam machine casing so it doesn't get scratched by the hard plastic of the 3D prints. I would recommend 5 walls and a dense but not completely solid infill for the Feet so they have a little bit of flex and can dampen any vibrations from the steam machine. All other TPU pieces should be 100% solid The Vented Aperture logo for the front is optional but probably helps with additional airflow. But you can swap it out for the heart or other non vented aperture logo pieces if wanted. Many of the files will require swapping filament colors at specific layers once. In your slicer you would insert a pause at the layer just above the last layer that you want for the color. Then when paused you would physically swap out your filament spool with the next color and purge and then resume the print. Or if your printer has Multiple Extruders/colors you would use the slicer to paint the model colors like any other so you match the render pictures provided. I would also recommend Ironing if you are able to dial your Ironing settings in well as most faces are on top and this case will heavily benefit from good Ironing. Some parts will require some supports Assembly: Main Panels: Glue in the Colored Light Channel pieces onto the Panels first. Then after, the Center Gray Ring, Center Colored Disc and Aperture Logo or Heart pieces must be carefully glued together one at a time using their alignment edges. Start with applying glue to the spots on the Center Logo piece and then carefully place it on top of the Colored disc. Then wait for the glue to dry. Then do the same with the Gray ring, apply the glue to the edge slots and place it onto of the colored disc. then wait for it to dry. Do this 4 times, one for each panel. Use the Vented or non vented one for one of these pieces to be used for the Front Face Plate later. For the front face plate you may need to use some tweezers to glue and place the "tiny" light channel piece onto the bottom slot. Once all the colored light channels are all glued in place and dried, Now apply glue around the disc slot area and place in each of the previously glued disc sections, paying attention to align the small slots on the gray ring with the light channels. Then after that slide on each of the TPU Slide Guards into each slot of the two side panels. Then take the Top Filler piece and slide it onto the top panel. Then slide the 3 remaining TPU Slide guards onto the bottom of the Top Filler piece. These slides shouldn't need any glue and should slide and stay in on their own just fine. and if the final fitment with the steam machine is too tight these can be removed and replaced with slightly thinner ones. Side Panels Assembly Video: Top Panel Assembly Video: Front Face Plate: For the Front faceplate assembly you will need to glue on the top and two side edges. With the vent hole in the middle I would recommend using some large zip ties to act as a clamp when these edges are being glued to hold them in place tightly. After these are dry, glue in the magnets paying close attention to the orientation of the magnet for the Front Face plate so that they will connect properly Front Faceplate Assembly Video: Front IO Panel: Next for the bottom Front IO Panel for the USB ports/SD card slot and Power button and power LED. The Left and Right Front IO pieces must be glued to the front IO Panel piece using the alignment points. For reference Left/Right is while facing toward the front of the steam machine. After the two Left and Right Front IO panel edges are glued and dried, now glue in the Bottom Front IO Panel edge, will need to apply some glue to the thin edge below the SD card slot. I used some zip ties to act as a clamp to hold this gap closed while the glue dried. small plastic clamps could work too. May also need tweezers to glue in the "Small" light channel piece above the SD card slot. Then glue on the small TPU power button pad onto the power button. Insert the USB Port cover plug and glue in the 1/4th in magnets into the magnet slots for the SD Card cover, and glue in the ones on the SD card cover itself. Paying close attention to the magnet orientation with the SD card cover so that they connect properly. Do not attach the front IO Panel to the Bottom Panel just yet, this goes on after the 4 main panels are screwed together because two screws will get blocked for the side panels by the front IO panel. Front IO Panel & Bottom Panel Assembly Video: Once all the panels are assembled and glue has dried you can begin the final assembly. First take the two side panels and slot them onto the bottom panel making sure the magnets are facing forward on the side where the front IO panel will slot into. Then screw in the 4 screws, two on each side for the two side panels. Then slot in the Top panel with the Filler plate, and then screw it on with 4 more screws. After the 4 panels are screwed together, attach the Front IO panel and screw it in with the two screws underneath where the feet are with the M2.5 screws. Then you may now insert the steam machine carefully into the case. It will be a tight fit so be careful and slow. There might be some warp in your prints that make it a tighter fit so might require a little bit of bending of the side panels of the 3D prints in order for the steam machine to fit more easily. Once it's fully inserted and the steam machine is flush to the back of the case, take the Back Panel and place it so that the wider grey section is at the top which should line up perfectly with the flat spot of the top of the Steam machine's fan grill. Then screw on the back panel using the M3 screws. Full Final Assembly Video: I have not done any extensive thermal tests but no airflow or venting is blocked, and the additional vent provided by the front face plate aperture logo can help provide a little extra airflow. So I don't believe there will be any cooling issues caused by this case. Enjoy the case and please post makes/pictures once completed, I would love to see how they turn out!
