This is the intended print orientation. Supports shouldn't be necessary. It was designed for the cable and charging puck provided with the steam controller. I cannot guarantee if any other cables will fit. The holes on the bottom are for generic 8mm diameter adhesive rubber feet like these . The weight tray is for you to put any material that can act as a weight. Ball bearings, clay, metal scrap, etc. I made this stand to solve a couple of issues I saw with existing designs: - Minimal Material Use - Knowing that the magnet on the puck was strong enough to hold the weight of the controller by itself, I felt like many designs had way more contact points to the controller than necessary. I kept this design simpler with the only additional contact area being below the puck. - Hidden Cable - All designs I've seen made no effort to hide the cable. At best they had a clip to retain the cable a bit better. I wanted it to feel like a proper charging dock, not a stand that happens to hold the charging puck. - Weights - As the magnets are quite strong, basic 3D prints are too light. I added a sliding compartment on the bottom to store material to acts as weights. I managed to fit about 175 6mm steel ball bearings. In case you don't care, or plan to just put adhesive on the bottom, model without the compartment is provided too. A couple things to be aware of before using this model: - The puck is retained by plastic clips. It may leave cosmetic marks on the puck with repeated use. - The magnets are plenty strong enough to hold the weight of the controller, but it can fall when there is significant impact. Maybe consider another design if you live in an area with earthquakes or have anger management issues. Other concerns I have received: - Pogo Pins - No it does not apply extra force on the charging pins. The puck has a plastic extrusion, which slots into the indent on the back of the controller. The edge of said plastic is where the weight of the controller is sitting on, not the pins. - Firmware updates - You'll likely want access to another usb c cable to allow for easier firmware updates on the controller. You do not need to remove the cable from the puck during the firmware update process.
