In medieval England, not everyone was allowed to build a castle. Instead, you had to apply for a special “license to crenellate.” Once the permit was granted, you could then add crenellations – those distinctive notches at the top of castle walls – and other fortifying features to your property. This factoid was too delightful for me to ignore so of course I created a bonus fill-in-the-blanks License to Crenellate. Parts can break off prematurely while removing the card from the build plate unless you take a few simple and easy steps first. Use a freshly cleaned textured build plate. Let it cool completely first, then slowly and carefully flex the plate. The card should pop off easily if it hasn't already self-released. Easy peasy, I promise! Flush cutters or scissors recommended. While the parts can be snapped out with only a little bit of force, I still recommend using flush cutters or scissors for best results. It's quicker, safer, and easier! 🌞 Troubles? Please see any of my other kit card models for tips and tricks. Why not here? Because I'm working on a universal resource guide so I don't keep repeating myself :) I call this one “the middle school picture day” posse. The following instructions are also available as a downloadable PDF. Please see the “Documentation” section below ⬇️ Print Details Process Settings This model has been optimized specifically for: Nozzle: 0.4mm Layer height: 0.2mm Wall generator: classic All my 3mfs include these values in addition to other settings I've developed over the years to ensure the best possible result. Changing these values may result in parts not fitting or small details printing incorrectly. Text Customization If you would like to use the same font as I did, it can be found for free over on dafont: https://www.dafont.com/belshaw.font. Suggested Filaments For this model, I recommend basic PLA. Test prints were made using the filaments listed in the Build of Materials using default profiles on a Bambu X1C. All parts were found to have a good fit between parts. Your results may differ due to filament colour/type/brand, and printer. About This castle might look like a fairytale on the surface but it was greatly inspired by real medieval castle architecture. As usual, I did more research than anyone strictly needs to for a tiny pretend castle. I spent a lot of time looking at the battlements which get their tell-tale “this is a castle” look thanks to the crenellations (the slots), the merlons (the “teeth”) and the corbels (the brackets underneath). While I couldn't fit all features that I wanted in this particular castle, I am planning on a larger more-historically accurate kit card which will include such things as a working drawbridge and portcullis. At least that's the plan! Let me know in the comments if it's something you'd like to see 🏰= 🤔 🥰 How to Support me If you appreciate the work I did to bring this model to you, please consider supporting me on Ko-fi. Even a small tip will help offset the cost of prototyping filaments. Alternatively, a like or a boost is another easy way to say “hey, you don't entirely suck.” ⭐ Licensing If you wish to sell my models, you may purchase licensing rights throug
