I started with 3D printing quite late, making my first printer purchase after retiring not too long ago. I've found 3D printing very useful at filling a number of needs around the home, the mancave and with my astrophotography. I found that very often there were tweaks and changes required to fit a model to my specific needs so I've become reasonably proficient at modelling and modification using slicer software - Bambu Studio and Orca Slicer. I"ve been dragging the chain with CAD modelling though, a little daunted by learning another branch of software. Finding OpenSCAD models, and realising the flexibility of SCAD customisation, got me looking at that platform. Having a long history with computers and some light coding in my past, OpenSCAD scripts drew me in. When I find that I need something made now, I inevitably look toward OpenSCAD first because, why not? If I need one thing, odds are I can use another variant as well. And other people probably have slightly different requirements. OpenSCAD is excellent at that. I use the development snapshot builds of OpenSCAD which are much faster at rendering curved surfaces, and I inevitably use some commands and parameters that take advantage of that function. Some of my scripts can be slow if you use older stable release version. Unfortunately, many actually fail on a web based interface using the old version. To use OpenSCAD scripts locally, you can find the development snapshot builds here: https://openscad.org/downloads.html#snapshots I've found that different hosting sites trend toward visitors after different design types so for good public coverage I publish to Thingiverse, Printables and MakerWorld. I've used many free models, so I like to give back to the printing community. Free my models 600fccadbcb64f https://www.printables.com/@Stu_2016976/ https://makerworld.com/en/@smackie39
