Beskrivelse

This twist pen resembles one of the world’s finest writing instruments. Woodworkers have crafted these pens from wood or acrylic and sell them for an average price of $35 each. We can now make them on our 3D printers! This model requires the purchase of a pen making kit from either Rockler.com or Penn State Industries. Both sites sell similar kits with the same dimension requirements in a variety of metal finishes. The Penn State Industries kit is part number PKMONT. Here is a link to the US website: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKMONT.html The kit from Rockler is part number 41500. Here is the link to the part on their US website: https://www.rockler.com/summit-pen-hardware-kit-gold Both companies occasionally sell their pen kits on Amazon.com. There are many varieties of pen kits available, but this 3D model only works with these kits that are marketed as “Euro Designer Pen”, and this model assumes a tenon is needed for the center band. The kits come with all the hardware needed to assemble the pen, including a Cross style refill. Tools and Materials Required: An appropriate pen kit. Sandpaper. Epoxy or superglue. A clamp for pressing pen parts together. Assembly Instructions: Print the pen body parts and the assembly helper tool. Switching to print “By Object” may improve print quality if you experience stringing or other issues. Carefully remove any brim material from the ends of the printed pen tubes. Ensure that the brass tubes will slide into the printed tubes. Use sandpaper to rough up the outside of the brass tubes in the pen kit. Use epoxy of superglue to glue the brass tubes to the inside of the printed pen tubes. Glue the center band onto the tenon of the top pen tube. Note that one end of the center band is flared slightly. The flared end faces out toward the bottom half of the pen. Allow the glue to cure completely before proceeding. Disassemble the pen clip and press the round tapered nut into the top of the pen until it is flush. Reassemble the clip to the nut after it is installed. Press the twist mechanism into the top of the lower pen tube. Follow the instructions provided with the pen kit to determine direction and the depth of the installation. The assembly helper tool is used to insert the twist mechanism to the correct depth. Slide the helper tool over the twist mechanism before using a clamp or vise to press the mechanism into the tube. Stop when the twist mechanism is flush with the end of the helper tool. Insert the pen refill and twist it into place. Test the action of the pen to see that it retracts correctly. Adjust if necessary. Press the tip onto the narrow end of the lower pen tube. Complete the pen assembly by putting the top of the pen on the bottom part.
