One must find and solve the rotating maze puzzle in order to open this gift box. It appears to be a simple gift box with a ribbon and bow. Upon closer examination you will learn that the bow must be rotated 90 degrees before one of the ribbon parts can be lifted to reveal the hidden maze puzzle. This makes every gift fun to give and fun to receive. The interior of the gift box measures 76mm tall in the center, 104mm tall near the edges (due to the locking mechanism in the center). The width and depth of the interior are 102mm. If you have the ability to print with a support interface, this model is a great candidate for the technique. There will not be a lot of excessive filament changes as most of the supported surfaces are level planes. The support interface will make support removal a snap! An optional “answer key” maze shaft is included. It prints in two colors and traces the path on the maze shaft to make the solution easier to spot. This can be useful when assembling the puzzle box. You may also offer it to the recipient of the gift if they get stumped on opening it. If you want to make the box easier to open, assemble it with the answer key instead of the unmarked maze shaft. How to Assemble the Ultimate Puzzle Box (25-1): How to open the Ultimate Puzzle Box (25-1): Step by Step Assembly Instructions: Print All the Parts Identify the smallest ribbon part, the one that has no hole. Slide it into the slot that covers the hole in the outer box lid. Install the second smallest ribbon part on the opposite side of the box lid. Install the longest ribbon part in the remaining two slots, at 90 degrees to the first two. Insert the shaft of the bow into the hole on top of the box. Secure it in place by placing the C-shaped retainer clip on the shaft inside the box. Place the outer box (lid with ribbons and a bow) over the inner box. Ensure that the holes at the bottom of both boxes are aligned. Insert the maze bolt into the hole. You must work the puzzle in reverse in order to lock the puzzle box. It helps if you study the maze bolt first so you can predict the turns you need to make as you insert it. If you printed the optional answer key you can use it as your guide to insert the maze bolt. When the bolt is in and flush with the inner surface of the box, close the ribbon to cover the maze bolt and rotate the bow 90 degrees to keep the ribbon part in place. Note that there is a detent in the ribbon and a bump on the bottom of the bow to hole the bow in proper alignment when closed. If the bolt does not go in far enough to easily close the ribbon, the puzzle is not completely solved. There is a solution that allows the bolt to go all the way in. It may be helpful to solve the puzzle upside down while watching through the hole in the bottom. You can print the optional answer key to help you solve the puzzle.
