This puzzle maze was designed by my 12-year-old son as a fun challenge (and to get extra pocket-money). At first glance it looks like an oversized pencil but inside is a hidden compartment that can only be opened by successfully completing the internal maze. To make it even better, the design allows space for a real pen insert to be glued in and slide inside, so the pencil actually works as a pen once assembled. The internal maze is generated using RevK’s open-source maze generator (SCAD), then imported into Fusion 360 where my son designed the full pencil styling and mechanics. The result is a playful, functional puzzle that works as: a brain teaser a gift or desk toy a secret storage container or just a very cool oversized pencil Maze difficulty: 5 / 10 Challenging enough to be fun, but not frustrating. Boost Dimensions - Main Body: Total height (assembled): 173 mm Pencil diameter: ~32 mm Pen insert diameter: 3 mm Hidden Compartment (Inside Maze) Insertion diameter: 20 mm Depth: 110 mm Printing & Materials We include two print profiles: Bambu H2D (dual nozzle) Single-nozzle printers (X1C, P1, A1, etc.) Recommended materials: PLA Tough+/PETG (the internal nubs experience wear during use) PLA Matte or standard PLA for the outer pencil parts 1x Pen insert (measuring about 3mm in diameter) Assembly: Test orientation before gluing. Apply super glue on parts to assemble the pencil.
