chess chessboard magnetic

Beskrivelse

Recently, my son became interested in chess, so I decided to design and make our own chessboard. This chessboard works perfectly with my Medieval Chess Set, available at the link below, https://makerworld.com/en/models/3320274-medieval-chess-set#profileId-3770178 but of course, you can also use any other chess pieces. The chessboard uses almost the entire standard build plate of the printer. Each half has a sliding lid with a small locking mechanism. When closed, each half becomes a storage box where you can keep the chess pieces. To connect the two halves and prevent them from moving during play, you only need two 6×2 mm magnets. In this basic version, you can use the board normally with any chess pieces. Each square is 30 mm, so I recommend using pieces with a base diameter of no more than 25 mm. However, you can add more magnets to the chessboard to get some useful upgrades: Magnets under the playing squares keep the chess pieces securely in place and make the game much more comfortable to play — 64 magnets. Magnets inside the storage boxes hold the chess pieces in place, so they do not rattle or move around inside — 32 magnets. Magnets in the case and lids allow the two folded halves to connect together during storage — 4 magnets. Magnets connecting the two halves of the playing board during a game — from 2 to 20 magnets. Depending on which options you choose, you will need between 2 and 120 magnets for the chessboard. Additionally, if you want to use the magnetic playing surface, you will need 32 magnets for the chess pieces themselves. I tested the chessboard with my son, and with the full magnetic setup, it is really enjoyable and comfortable to play with.
