Beskrivelse

Working alongside Staghound scout walkers, the AR-12 Caracal is a staple of Krevarian reconnaissance teams. For a time, Krevarian recon doctrine was set to exclusively utilize mounted infantry and combat walkers in the armored scouting role thanks to their ability to easily cross difficult terrain. A series of losses on the Balaster Plains dramatically showed the flaws in this arrangement, however. Staghound walkers could not disengage faster than their pursuers. The Caracal design, originally shelved in favor of the Staghound, was revived and put into service alongside the walkers. Since then, Staghounds have largely been used in urban situations and rough terrain, while the armored cars perform similar roles in open terrain and areas with good road networks. While the original Caracal design features a fully-enclosed armored turret, hard use has seen the base design modified into two other major subtypes. The AR-12A removes the turret in favor of an open-topped hull with a ring gun mount. This variant sacrifices protection for better visibility, stealth, and speed and only sacrifices a small amount of firepower. Crews also appreciate the small comfort of being able to dismount more easily if the vehicle needs to be abandoned in a hurry. The Caracal Highwire incorporates a specialized turret carrying four Highwire guided anti-armor missiles. While somewhat cramped and uncomfortable for the missile operator, this version is capable of hitting as hard as most battle tanks, albeit only for a short duration. Highwires are found in many armored recon battlegroups to provide cover and support for their more lightly armed brethren. The weapons have magnet holes in case you want to swap weapons after assembly. You’ll need 3mm (⅛”) x 1mm rare earth magnets if you choose to take advantage of them. update 13 December 2025: Original STLs for the missile turrets were duplicates of the open version. This has been corrected. Supported versions were unaffected. ----------- The Car
