A lamp like decor piece with a modern twist! Add LED's and create a fun and unique looking lightbox! Perfect for a coffee table or anywhere in your home that's wanting a new unique and modern decor piece! Design consists of the base and the lamp shade/insert with optional parts for the specific LED's I used/recommend! (see LED DETAILS below) MATERIAL RECOMMENDATIONS: PLA/PETG For the lampshade/insert, I recommend a semi or fully transparent material for optimal LED diffusion. If you want to also have the model act as standalone decor (i.e. not lit up), I also recommend a material with a metallic/pearlescent finish. Lighter colors will have better visibility with the grooves etched on the base, but darker colors will look great as well. This is where you can make it unique to you and/or the colors in the room you're complementing! If you're using the LED diffuser attached and the LED Matrix insert attached, i recommend ay material that will hold good tolerances. The diffuser piece has a snug fit around the LED's on the matrix, and over tolerances will cause the led matrix + diffuser to not fit into the insert. For the diffuser, a natural color material is recommended. LED DETAILS: This design utilizes addressable LED's in the form of an 8x8 LED Matrix but you can feel free to use other lighting options that work best for you! You can even use battery powered LED's as long as the battery box is small enough to fit inside the base. They fit fairly snug. I've also designed an insert for the matrix + diffuser to sit into the base so that it is centered with the lampshade/diffuser. There is an opening on the back to feed the LED wires through to connect to the controller and power supply. Please insert the LED matrix + diffuser + insert into the base of the lightbox before putting on the top piece. The insert should sit below the ledge where the diffuser sits into. If there is any fit issues or the base doesn't sit flat on the table with all the electronics in place, make sure to clean up/organize the electronic wiring. The cutout in the one corner of the base is meant to be able to run the power cord through to connect it to the controller. If you're using different LED's for your lightbox, the matrix diffuser and insert DO NOT need printed. PRINT SETTINGS/RECOMMENDATIONS: BASE: 12% Infill (gyroid recommended), 2 perimeters, 0.2-0.25mm layer height, 3 bottom walls, 5-6 top walls LAMPSHADE/INSERT: 0% Infill, 2 perimeters, 0.2-0.25mm layer height, 3 bottom walls, 0 top walls LED MATRIX INSERT: 50% Infill, 2 perimeters, 0.2-0.25mm layer height, 3 bottom walls, 4-5 top walls LED MATRIX DIFFUSER: 100% Infill, 2 perimeters, 0.2-0.25mm layer height, 1-2 bottom walls, 2-3 top walls Any assembly or design questions/feedback, please leave a comment!
