I decided it was time to make a new Catrina — this time using the new Koza character style, so she could be the perfect partner for our Catrín. For anyone who doesn't know, the Catrina has a pretty interesting story. The character goes back to José Guadalupe Posada's famous skeleton illustration, originally called La Calavera Garbancera. Later, Diego Rivera helped popularize the name and the elegant Catrina image we recognize today. What started as social satire eventually became one of the most iconic symbols of Día de Muertos. So, of course, I had to give her the Koza treatment! For my print tests, I went a little crazy with the scales. I printed the multicolor version from 75% all the way up to 200%, as the regular figure and as a keychain. It was actually pretty fun seeing how much detail survives at such different sizes. I also wanted to try a tiny modification for the smallest versions. I removed the lips, and honestly... I think she looks surprisingly cute that way! Sometimes less is more, especially when you're trying to squeeze all those little details into a tiny print. The multipart version was a bit more challenging this time. I wasn't able to make every single piece print without supports, so you'll want to pay attention to the print settings and enable supports for some of the parts. I've already configured the recommended settings in the Bambu Studio 3MF file, so if you're using a Bambu printer, you should be good to go. If you're using another slicer, I'm honestly not sure how well those settings will carry over, so it's worth checking the support settings before hitting Print. I hope you guys like her! She was definitely a fun one to develop, and this is just the beginning. There are more Día de Muertos designs coming very soon... and trust me, some of them are going to be seriously awesome.
