Adjustable Wooden Floor Lamp Light up your home with a floor lamp built from five wooden dowels and a handful of printed parts. Two joints do all the work: a low hub that opens into the tripod, and a sliding joint that carries the upper arm and locks wherever you decide the light belongs. The shade hangs from that arm on the cable itself, printed in vase mode so the bulb reads as a warm, even surface instead of a bright point. Design & Concept I designed this lamp around its two joints and let standard material do the rest. The frame is nothing but 30mm wooden dowels, the kind any hardware shop will cut to length, and every connection between them is printed: the tripod hub at the bottom, the cross joint that slides along the central column, six printed screws that clamp the rods in place, and a set of internal pins that shim each seat so nothing rattles. Two of the six end caps carry a groove, so the cable seats into them and follows the frame instead of hanging across it. Height and reach are not decisions the model makes for you, they are decisions you make after the build and can change again whenever the room changes. The shade is the counterweight to all that structure, printed in vase mode, quiet and soft against the pale wood. Hardware Required: Wooden Dowels: 5 rods, 30mm diameter. Three of equal length for the legs, one for the central column, one shorter for the arm, all cut to length. Electrical: A 7mm cable, an E27 socket, an inline switch, and a mains plug. Bulb: E27, warm white recommended. Printing Recommendations: Lower Hub and Sliding Joint: Material: PLA. A matte white reproduces the finish shown in the photos. Nozzle: 0.4mm. Layer Height: 0.2mm. Walls / Perimeters: 3 to 4. These two parts carry the whole frame, so the extra perimeter matters more here than the infill. Infill: 15% Gyroid. Supports: From build plate only, where the slicer detects them around the rod openings. Brim: Optional (adhesion). Shades and Shade Cap: Source File: Print the shades from the supplied 3MF rather than slicing them yourself. The profile is already set up in that file. Vase Mode (Spiralize Outer Contour): Enabled. Both shades are built for it, which is what gives the diffuser its even, seamless surface. Assembly Print the lower hub, the sliding upper joint, the six rod end caps (four plain and two grooved for the cable), the six printed screws, the internal pins, the two shades, and the shade cap. Cut the five 30mm wooden roods: three legs, one central column, one shorter arm. Seat the legs and the central column in the lower hub, shimming the rods with the internal pins, and lock them with the printed screws. Slide the upper joint onto the column, pass the short arm through it, and tighten the screws at the height and reach you want. Close the free rod ends with the caps, placing the two grooved ones at the top of the column and at the end of the arm, then seat the cable into those grooves.
