Beskrivelse

This design is a vice intended to adapt on different types of base holders including a magnetic base, a suction cup base and a standard tabletop attachment base. It is also compatible with a ball join articulated arm to hold things in any kind of orientation. You will find the standard tabletop base on this page. The magnetic base is available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7403631 The suction cup base is available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7403625 and the articulated arm here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7403716 For a detailed tutorial on building this setup please look on Instructable: https://www.instructables.com/Build-a-Robust-and-Modular-Helper-Arm/ This vice includes a few atypical design choices worth mentioning: 3mm metallic rods are used as slide elements to ensure a smooth translation between the vice's jaw and main body. While it means you need to source 3mm rods to build it, that means there is almost 0 backlash on the jaw and the vice doesn't jam under tension because of the layer lines. The driving screw has a large pitch of 16mm to allow a rapid adjustment and pleasant handling. To conserve the screw strength without drastically increase the thread dimensions, the screw uses 5 threads. To allow the vice to lock in position when tighten around something, the screw and the vice main body have complementary "wave patterns". Those patterns serve like notches to keep pressure on the object immobilized. To prevent this cramping effect from being to strong because of the layer line effect, the screw and vice main body are separated by a printed "washer" consisting of a single printed layer. All in all you should find that those design choices result in quite a capable vice for a 3D printed object. The vice has two versions: a compact 65 65mm and a larger 65 130mm version for larger objects.
