Beskrivelse
ANOTHER MODEL 2!!!???? YES!!!! This is something I've been planning on doing for waaay too long and I finally got around to doing it! Since I've been making a 1/3 scale Thunderbolt, and the chopper assembly of the thunderbolt is the same as a model 2 core, I decided to scale up my 1/4 scale model 2 and remodel an entire 1/3 scale off of it (using parts from the Thunderbolt)! This model 2 is a lot bigger and louder than the 1/4 scale while also surprising being A LOT EASIER TO BUILD!! (No more random hardware kit LOL) PARTS LIST: Motor: https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=232047 (I recommend using this website since you can get a LOT of these motors in BULK for a very small price!!) Motor Shaft Couplers: https://www.amazon.com/MECCANIXITY-Coupling-Connector-Flexible-Airplane/dp/B0F3HNS1KW/ref But IFFFF you refuse to use any other website other than amazon (like a chud), here's an Amazon link for a motor that should work: https://www.amazon.com/GTPBAO-Science-5000-19400r-Engine-Projects/dp/B0CNNYLD49/ref No guarantees tho! Hardware Kit #1: https://www.amazon.com/Machine-Assorted-Assortment-Stainless-Threaded/dp/B0DFWYBJJJ/ Hardware Kit #2: https://www.amazon.com/Machine-Assorted-Stainless-Assortment-Threaded/dp/B0DFWXRM21/ref Hardware Kit #3: https://www.amazon.com/Screws-Assortment-Machine-Stainless-Washers/dp/B0DPX1WG4R/ref INSTRUCTIONS: Get the rotor printed and hammer a shaft coupler into the bottom. It should be toleranced to need a hammer to tap itself in but if yours is pretty loose, put a small line of super glue inside the hole (on either side OPPOSITE of the setscrew hole(s) as to not get glue inside) And speaking of the setscrew hole(s), make sure they're aligned with the small holes inside of the rotor. Next, print the motor holder and bolt the motor up through the bottom! It should fit nice and snug into the holder and secure to the top with two short m2.5 bolts (Hardware Kit #3) Now, print the stator and place it on top of the motor mount (but don't bolt it on!!) Use the stator to figure out how far the rotor should be down the motor shaft in order to be in the right place. Once it's at the right spot, tighten the setscrew(s) in the shaft coupler on the rotor to secure it to the motor shaft! To attach the stator, you'll want to place it on top of the motor holder around the rotor AS WELL AS push the sound ring on top of that. It should be a sandwich with the motor holder flange on bottom, stator brim in the middle, and then the sound ring on top. Four M2 bolts go up from the bottom and secure with a nut on the top through the four holes on each piece. The holes also have a tiny bit of wiggle room for alignment if needed. (I decided to put washers on either end of the bolt. It's a personal choice though and not needed!) From here, all that's left is to bolt the legs onto the underside of the motor holder with 6 M3 screws with nuts on the end And to secure the intake to the top of the stator with four M2 bolts! If your rotor scrapes against the nuts, you probably have it a tiny bit too high up so loosen the setscrew to lower it a bit. You can also make sure the position of the nuts are to where the flat sides are facing the rotor top for the most clearance. Your Model 2 is complete!! The shroud (I haven't printed) can either be printed as one whole piece or as three pieces that can all plastic weld together. The little holes in the top louver are for decorative M2 bolts. And for the mounts, if you want to set it on a desk just to have a base then you won't need to worry about the four inner holes in the base but if you want to secure it to a pole, those are for screws to screw down into said pole. The other three holes are obviously for siren mounting!
