Beskrivelse

Inspiration This design was inspired by: "3D-Printed Enclosure for Heltec V4(GPS)with 3000mah battery" by @AdiCEvil_3819894 at https://www.printables.com/model/1460642-3d-printed-enclosure-for-heltec-v4gps . We like the look of that model, but modifying the STL files from it was more work than drawing it from scratch, so we made a design incorporating the features we liked from it. If you don't want an ON/OFF button, then that model is probably a better option for you (less hardware needed and looks more cool than our version). Additions/Changes - ON/OFF latching push button - Made it harder to accidentally press the reset button (pin hole instead of a button) - Greater depth in the back cover for the battery - More space in the front cover to accomodate the battery plug DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY TO THE BOARD UNTIL THE ANTENNA IS PROPERLY CONNECTED TO THE BOARD. ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE CHANGING ANTENNAS. Parts needed 1. Heltec LoRa V4 development board with GPS module and 3000mAh battery 2. Four M2.5x8 self-tapping screws 3. Push Button Switch. The one that this model was designed to work with was purchased from Amazon: OURUI 30pcs Latching Push Button Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4ZCWSD9 Here are the dimensions of the button in case you want to try and source it or similar elsewhere: 4. Male and Female pair of 1.25 mm JST 2 Pin connectors. We used these: 10 Pairs 1.25 mm JST 2 Pin Male and Female Connectors with 80mm Wire Cables https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FP2FCYC Printing - No supports needed. - Recommended 0.2 mm layer height for front cover, back cover, and switch-bracket (0.3 mm is okay too). - Recommended 0.1 mm layer height for button. A 0.2 mm layer height should work too, but may need post-processing to pass smoothly through the hole in the front cover. - If you want to replicate the multicolor pattern in our photos, we recommend a 0.1 mm first layer, 0.2 mm other layers and setting a color change at 1.5 mm height and another at 2.5 mm. Assembly 1. Switch button wiring and installation - Trim the wires to these lengths before soldering: 70 mm for red wires and 60 mm for black wires. - Slip a bit of heatshrink tubing over one of the black wires, solder them together and heat shrink the tubing over the joint. - Bend the terminals on the switch button to the opposite side from the button. - Solder the ends of the red wires to the switch button terminals. - Insert the switch button in the front cover and get it seated properly. - Secure the switch button by pushing the switch button bracket in snugly before fixing it in place with glue or melt-welding it. We like to use the heated nozzle of a 3d printing pen to melt-weld the bracket in place. 2. Navigate/Select button - Insert the button in the front cover before installing the heltec v4 board. 3. Install heltec v4 board and GPS module - Attach the U.FL plug of the antenna connector to the heltec v4 board. - Insert the SMA end of the connector through the antenna holder in the front cover and secure with the hex nut. - Screw the antenna onto the SMA connector. - Insert the male JST connector from the switch button into the female JST connector labeled "Bat" on the heltec v4 board. - Insert the board into the front cover (USB port side first) and snap into place. 4. Battery installation and final assembly - Place the battery in the back cover with the battery cable at the bottom end. - Insert the male JST connector from the battery into the female JST connector to the switch button and heltec v4 board. - Arrange the wires in any available internal space and close the covers together. - Insert the four self-taping screws and tighten the case together.
