7/9/2026 You need 5 springs from 5 ball-point pens. You might need to stretch the springs for the actuator relief valves. You need four #8/32 machine screws approximately 1 inch long to assemble the pilot caps to the DCV block. Here is a link to the video on how to assemble the valve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W959IRFfZUs This print shows the three paths of oil flow through a hydraulic, proportional, open-center, directional control valve (DCV), also known as a selective control valve (SCV), or a remote valve. This valve is used in numerous types of hydraulic systems. You can dig further into the operation of this valve and its components by reading these chapters in my textbook: Chapter 3 Symbols (DCV and relief valve schematics) Chapter 7 Pressure Control Valves (actuator relief valves) Chapter 9 Directional Control Valves (DCV spools, pilot-controlled spools, power beyond) Chapter 16 (for traditional open-center DCV) Chapter 17 (for the rare case of using an open-center DCV with a PC pump, as well as open-center DCVs used with Dual Flow Constant HP pumps) Chapter 18 (for open-center DCVs used with variable, load sensing pumps, such as what Parker Hannifin calls VFO, or others call open-center Load Sensing) Chapter 20 (for open-center DCVs used in Negative Flow Control) Chapter 21 (for open-center DCVs used in Positive Flow Control) Chapter 22 (to learn how an open-center DCV provides three of the four passageways used in a Husco Flow Summation Valve, which is my favorite valve) On a different note.
