AMS 2 PRO Desiccant Box This container is designed to accommodate either your own rechargeable desiccant beads or pre-packaged desiccant packets, offering flexible moisture control options. NEW AMS HT Desiccant Box Printing Notes: UPDATED PROFILES: New Version added for a smoother bottom angle. I have never needed supports or a brim to print this, be sure to clean your build plate before printing. If you plan on using the drying feature of the new AMS 2 PRO, Print this box in PETG or ABS. Be sure to clean your build plate. FYI: If your printer keeps pausing due to AI detection an issue, It's not learning… TURN OFF AI Detection. Installation Notes: Fill the desiccant box with your choice of desiccant beads or just fill with desiccant packets. Use the orange rechargeable desiccant (The blue is known to be toxic) I found this desiccant works great and can be recharged in 10 minutes in your microwave. Snap the lid onto the box (It's a nice tight lid). Place box into the rear of your AMS 2 PRO with the Bambu logo facing forward (either way will work) Why is Desiccant Still Needed in the AMS 2 PRO? Desiccant is used in an active filament dryer to absorb moisture from the air surrounding the filament. Here's why this is necessary: Filament is hygroscopic: Most 3D printing filaments (like PLA, ABS, PETG, and especially nylon) absorb moisture from the air. Even small amounts of water can lead to: Poor print quality (stringing, bubbling, inconsistent extrusion) Weakened mechanical properties Clogged nozzles Active drying still requires moisture removal: An active filament dryer typically heats the filament to release absorbed moisture, and the desiccant: Traps that moisture, preventing it from re-entering the air inside the dryer Speeds up drying by maintaining a low-humidity environment Maintains dry storage conditions: Even after drying, the desiccant helps keep the air inside the dryer dry, preserving filament quality until it's used. Important Features: Top loading of desiccant is key! Front loading holders seems risky, if they open and leaks beads in the AMS 2, it could cause some real damage to fans and heater. Designed a bit smaller vertically to allow for easier insert and removal, Allows for better air flow through bottom of the box.
