Parametric Bamboo Planter Growing Lucky Bamboo or water-loving plants just got easier (and more stylish)! This is a specialized version of my popular self-watering system, designed specifically for plants that thrive in water or consistently moist environments. Using MakerLab, you can customize this planter to fit your exact needs, whether you have a single stalk or a whole bamboo forest! The Problem & Solution: Growing bamboo in standard jars can look messy, and water levels are hard to track. This design offers a clean, modern aesthetic with a built-in float indicator. As you pour water in, the indicator rises, giving you a clear visual cue of the water level so your bamboo always has what it needs without the guesswork. Customize Your Planter with MakerLab! This design is fully parametric! In MakerLab, you can: Customize the Number of Slots: Create a planter for 1, 2, 3, or more bamboo stalks. The size of the planter scales automatically. Adjust Slot Size: (If this is an option in your MakerLab setup, mention it here, e.g., "Perfectly fit different stalk thicknesses"). Key Features: Specialized for Water-Loving Plants: Ideal for Lucky Bamboo, Pothos cuttings, and other hydroponic-style growers. Visual Float Indicator: Never guess if your plant needs water. Printing & MakerLab Recommendations: For MakerLab Users: After customizing, I strongly suggest using the "Split to Objects" function in Bambu Studio. Plate 1 - Base: Standard settings. Plate 2 - Top Part: Print with the top surface facing the build plate for the best finish. Plate 3 - Float: CRITICAL: The float MUST be printed with 0% infill to ensure it floats properly. General Settings: Nozzle: 0.4mm Layer Height: 0.2mm Infill: 8% (or as specified in profile), except for Float (0%). Supports: None required. Material: PETG is recommended for water tightness and durability, but PLA can also be used. Assembly: Print all 3 components (Base, Top, Float). Place the Float (0% infill) into its designated channel in the Base. Place the Top Part onto the Base. Insert your bamboo stalks into the slots. Fill with water and watch the indicator rise!
