Now retired and enjoying more 3D printing...

Dave Antonacci is the Director of Teaching & Learning Technologies (TLT) at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he provides campus leadership in the use of technology-based teaching and learning strategies, both in the classroom and at a distance. He has a Doctorate in Instructional Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His interests include artificial intelligence, case-based reasoning, emerging technologies, and technology integration.

Dave has made many presentations and written several articles about emerging technologies and their possibilities for teaching and learning, including several presentations about 3D Printing for Teaching and Learning. See his 2014 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference presentation:

Additionally, he has been working with 3D printing since 2013, and his office is littered with hundreds of 3D-printed objects as he has enjoyed exploring this new technology.

I'm currently examining how collections can help us learn tacit knowledge--knowledge and skills gained through experience, and not readily described or converted into explicit knowledge (Nonaka & Takeuchi). To learn more about this project, checkout my Thingiverse Collections tab.
 I've also completed my review of the very early Thingiverse, noting firsts, developments, trends (e.g., first thing, stl file, toy, supports, print-in-place, etc). I've organized my finding into this First-Year of the Thingiverse collection. For each included thing, I posted a Comment describing its significance.
 Both projects are based on ideas from Ron Friedman’s book, Decoding Greatness: How the Best in the World Reverse Engineer Success. This book describes how developing and reflecting on collections, such as the Thingiverse, can help us become more creative.
